This competition will be held each year starting from 2017. MyESO is the platform to choose the best four students to represent Malaysia in the International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO).
What is International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO)?
IESO was founded as one of the major activities of the International Geoscience Education Organization (IGEO). It is an annual competition for secondary school students. IESO aims to encourage students’ interest and public awareness of earth science and to enhance earth sciences learning and teaching at school level. The IESO aims to further foster friendly relationships among young learners from different countries and promoting international cooperation in exchanging ideas and materials on earth sciences and earth sciences education. As of 2016, 32 countries had participated in IESO.

I want to participate in MyESO, but my school is not taking part. What should I do?

If any interested student or parent want to register, but the school is not taking part in MyESO, we strongly recommend these two course of actions:

  • to talk to the people responsible at the school to convince them to participate in MyESO. This is so that other students from the school also get the opportunity to participate, and the Preliminary Round can be held at the school (hence, no travel needed).
  • (to talk a teacher in charge at another school which participates in MyESO, and request a registration as outside candidate (“calon tumpang”) under the school registration. The participant then can sit for the Preliminary Round at this school venue along with their own participants.

However, if such arrangements are not possible despite your best efforts, we do accept a limited number of individual participation. To enquire, you may contact us by email or whatsapp at 012-9300563.

Please note that we only allow individual contestant to take part in Preliminary Round at a specific venue in Kuala Lumpur (Kangaroo Edu Centre) at a specific time (2.30pm) during the Contest Day. No other venue/time is allowed for individual participants. Individual participants are responsible for their own transportation arrangement.

How do I make the payment?
We accept payment for the registration fees by credit or debit card, cheque, bank-in or local order (LO). Go here to read more on payment methods.
When will the MyESO result be announced?
The results will be announced on November of the year on our website.
How many participants can take part from each school?
A school can register as many participants as possible.
