Q: What is Malaysian Earth Science Olympiad (MyESO)?
A: Malaysian Earth Science Olympiad (MyESO) is an annual national school-level competition that introduces earth science knowledge to the secondary school and pre-university students in Malaysia. MyESO is the platform to choose the best four students to represent Malaysia in the International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO) on the following year.


Q: What is International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO)?
A: IESO was founded as one of the major activities of the International Geoscience Education Organization (IGEO). It is an annual competition for secondary school students. IESO aims to encourage students’ interest and public awareness of earth science and to enhance earth sciences learning and teaching at school level. The IESO aims to further foster friendly relationships among young learners from different countries and promoting international cooperation in exchanging ideas and materials on earth sciences and earth sciences education.


Q: I am a primary school students. Can I participate in MyESO?
A: Yes. But you have to compete with the 13 to 15 years old students in Lower Form categories.


Q: I am 19 years old. Can I participate in MyESO?
A: Yes. All students from school level to pre-university level are eligible to join MyESO.


Q: I do not have prior earth science knowledge. Can I participate in MyESO?
A: Participants do not need prior earth science knowledge since they will be provided with the reading material in our official website.


Q: I want to participate in MyESO, but my school is not taking part. What should I do?
A: We do accept an individual participation. To enquire, you may contact us by email or whatsapp at 018-3604143.


Q: How do I make the payment?
A: We accept payment for the registration fees by credit or debit card, cheque, bank-in or local order (LO). Go here to read more on payment methods.


Q: When will the MyESO result be announced?
A: The results will be announced after two months of the competition day.


Q: How many participants can take part from each school?
A: A school can register as many participants as possible.


Q: Can I use both Bahasa Melayu and English when answering the questions of MyESO?
A: No. You can only use either one for subjective part.


Q: Can I collect co-curriculum marks when I participate in MyESO?
A: Yes. MyESO is officially endorsed by Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia, which enables all participants to collect co-curriculum marks.
